About

Welcome! I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Politics at the University of Liverpool.
My primary research focuses on elite politics and institutions in authoritarian regimes, both globally and sometimes with a regional focus on China/East Asia. Beyond that, I also work on the politics of regime changes (autocratization and democratization), democracy promotion, and policymaking processes.
This research has been published/is forthcoming in journals including Political Research Quarterly, Policy & Politics, Democratization, and Journal of East Asian Studies
Prior to coming to Liverpool, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the V-Dem Institute at the University of Gothenburg and continue to be affiliated with V-Dem as a Research Associate. I received my PhD in Government and Public Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022.
I am also a Co-Founder and Co-Organiser of the Authoritarian Political Systems Group (APSG) and a Co-Convenor of the Political Studies Association Specialist Group on Autocracies and Regime Change.
